The Money Management Workshop known as "Who Wants to be a Millionaire?" was a very good info session for me. I learned about the differences between credit and debit cards, and when and when not to use them, that saving is key, and always use cash.
Overall, the workshop was good, great even, but since I am based at the Parham Campus and the workshop was held at the Downtown campus, it posed the problem of travel and gas. I think though this problem will make up for itself when I use the information I learned by getting there.
The basic gist of the workshop went like this:
- Hey, this is the Money Management Workshop
- Here's some printed PowerPoint slides
- Follow along on the bullets, and take notes while I, the instructor, elaborate on the finer points the bullets cover.
- Continue taking notes, asking the occasional question
- Final questions
- I'll sign the SDV form
- See you later.
The information covered was short, sweet, to the point, and ultimately useful. Exactly the kind of format that can be learned in the shortest amount of time with the greatest amount of (possible) result.
I recommend this workshop to any student who hasn't already taken it, even if you don't need it for an assignment in SDV.
